Meeting with Scott Emerson MP - 6 August 2015

9/8/2015

On 6 August 2015, members of the Indooroopilly Community Association met with Scott Emerson MP at his Indooroopilly office. Minister Emerson listened to our concerns and was supportive of our objections to the University being granted a CID extension at the Long pocket site.

Mr. Emerson reiterated that the KEY issue is the Community Infrastructure Designation (CID).  If UQ are granted a CID for the Long Pocket site, then the university will be able to develop the site free from the usual city council planning and development requirements that would otherwise consider the interests of the community.

Mr. Emerson encouraged residents to continue to be vocal in their opposition to UQ's expansion, by posting signs and by writing to the UQ senate.
  • Signs can be obtained through the St Lucia News Agency on Hawken Drive at "The Vill" or via the St Lucia Community Association website http://our4067.org/resources/
  • To register your objection go to our "Lodge an Objection" page.
  • UQ Senate contacts are: Chief Operating Officer Mr. Maurie McNarn m.mcnarn@uq.edu.au - Senate Executive Officer Dr. John Montgomery john.montgomery@uq.edu.au

We appreciate Mr. Emerson taking the time to meet with us.
